New Director, Laboratory Operations
October 8, 2009 - Rebecca K. Mead, PhD, was promoted to the position
of Director, Laboratory Operations for CompuChem Labs, effective Friday, September
25, 2009. Exclusive of the Sales Department, Quality Assurance and Administration
(i.e., Purchasing and HR), all departments in the Environmental Division will report
directly to Dr. Mead, including Project Management/Customer Service, Extractions/Sample
Prep and the Sample Management Services (Receiving, Initial Log-in and the Copy
Room, Shipping area).
Dr. Mead previously worked at CompuChem in several responsibilities prior to beginning
a family in 2005. Earlier in the year she was contacted about returning on a part-time
basis, which was initiated, and then she was actively solicited to take on more
responsibility. Her unique background and skill set make her an ideal selection
for directing the activities of an environmental chemistry laboratory. Her love
of the science and her willingness to share the knowledge she’s gained to develop
her colleagues has provided Mead with uniquely qualified people skills that will
serve her exceedingly well. Those attributes, combined with an absolute commitment
to quality, brings to CompuChem a highly experienced and demonstrated talent in
Dr. Mead. She relishes the opportunity to affect and realize the growth and development,
excellence, and maturation of our personnel and their abilities, and additionally,
the implementation of process systems to insure absolute and consistent quality
in the data deliverables and EDDs we release to our customers.
An announcement will be made on Liberty’s website this week indicating this change
and a communication of this organizational change will be provided to our commercial
clients this week as well. A new organization chart will be released that will identify
these changes for updates in our most recent versions of the Quality Manual and
Statement of Qualifications.
I would ask that everyone welcome and kindly give your full cooperation and support
to Rebecca as she enters into her new responsibilities.
Our fourth quarter business projections suggest a profitable year end surge and
we need ALL of our personnel on the same page and pulling together in order that
we can provide the collaborative effort necessary to realize a favorable and profitable
year end.
Thanks to all employees for your expected effort and teamwork during remaining months
of 2009!
